Yo Gabba...Wha?

Okay, so Gabe asked yesterday if we could check out a "Yo Gabba Gabba" DVD from the library. I had never seen it before. Can I just say, it is probably the weirdest kids' show ever? And can I just say, I think I really like it?

It scares Caleb. Any time the "DJ" would come on the screen, Caleb would turn toward me and put his head on my chest.

DJ Lance is painfully, amusingly weird to watch. I want a hat and glasses like his. They play dance beats through the whole show....I even saw a clip on Youtube from the show where they were teaching the kiddies to beat box.

Why didn't we have this when I was a kid? I would have taken this over Mr. Rogers and his spooky puppets any day.

  2. No. I have much love for Freddy Rog...I just wish he would have worn a hat & glasses like DJ Lance and played some funky beats (and taught kids to beat box) every now and then.

  3. DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to get to your local Target AS SOON AS YOU CAN! We were there yesterday, and in the Gabba section of the toy section, they had...

DJ LANCE FURRY HAT AND GLASSES!

We've been fans since way back, and it rocks. Really great musical guests, really great and high-profile-ish Dancey-Dance guests (Elijah Wood? Melora Hardin from The Office? Tony Hawk?! Sugarland??!)

It is truly Ellie's favorite show, and the only thing she tries to say besides "mama" and "hi" is "wawwa" which is her version of Gabba. Char pretends like she is too cool for it, but dances along and will saunter into the room if it is on.

I am so glad to have someone else on board! Super weird...but in a good way!

  4. Is this guy any relation to the DJ on Figure It Out? They seem to have the same fashion sense.

  5. Okay, so, Amy...I think I'll definitely have to think of an excuse for a Target run this weekend.

I'm glad I found a fellow fan....Caleb asked for it by his own special name too..."Uh (Which means 'I want') Gubbagubbagubbagubba."

A high school friend on facebook who now lives in Cali said that DJ Lance used to work in the record store she and her husband shopped at...I swear, yet another reason to relocate to California.

The scary thing is that I'm finding the songs stuck in my head, almost catching myself singing them out loud at my desk at work.

  6. Oh, Dan, it gets so much worse. Their preachy little songs (which I think are all set to one of three tunes) are in constant use around the house - "Don't stop, don't give up! Keep trying, keep trying, never give up! DON'T STOP! never give up! DON'T STOP!"

I love that you have an "in" with DJ Lance Rock! In my mind, anyway...

Have you seen any episodes with Gooble? He's a depressed albino Muno without bumps, and in one episode Toody tells Gooble to "Go away Gooble! Go be sad somewhere else!" and Plex says, "Yes, Toody, Gooble is sad most of the time" which inexplicably cracks me up EVERY TIME. Every darn time.
So happy to have you on board!
